I just moved to a new place on the border of Claremont and Rondebosch in Cape Town, and don't have consistent Telkom Mobile signal for LTE (keeps switching to roaming) so I'm looking for the best data deal for R600 or less, preferably prepaid as I'm here for a non-specific time until the owners sell (could be 2 months, could be longer). Mainly gaming and youtube, I use about 40-60gb a month if I'm not downloading. I think there's fiber here but I'm not sure if the providers would do a short notice cancellation when I have to move, and how quick I can get activated, so any advice there would also be appreciated (I have a compatible router)

It really depends on what you can get there. My Cell C was good while it lasted. They then stopped their roaming and that brought me from 40mbps down to 10. Then they decided to throttle YouTube and the like, taking it down to 1mbps. Then they cancelled their entire fixed LTE range. The only other option you really have is MTN. But also, check your fixed LTE vs standard LTE with Telkom. It differs.

I see you have the option of fiber...dude, do it. Pay the bit extra and get your ping down to sub 10.
My LTE at best is 40...and while on paper it's good, if youre doing FPS, it helps a ton.

I'm using the Telkom fixed LTE prepaid bundles because they're cheaper for bulk data (but can't roam). My only concern with fiber is the cancellation window. I'll probably apply to Afrihost tonight for fiber, but I'm kinda screwed until activation (bought a 60+60gb bundle last night)

Block the roaming and you should be good to go

I have data roaming off and it still switches and uses the wrong bundle, unless you know a way to stop it completely?

You use the *180# menu and switch it off
