Luke Watson was soos ’n kanker in die Springbok-rugbyspan.

So sê John Smit, Springbok-kaptein, in sy biografie, Captain in the Cauldron – The John Smit Story, wat die naweek bekend gestel word.

Translated snippets:
Luke Watson was like cancer in the Springbok team.

He never tried to be part of the team. I think that he really wanted to play for South Africa, but he couldn't stand the environment and, to be honest, he irretated the ***** out of us.
:D

Players came to me to complain about him every day. He was referred to as the cancer of the team.

Need I say more...

More here...

There was a guy like him in our Matric first rugby team. During practices, in loose scrums, his own team mates would stomp on him.

I also heard in later years that when he was in primary school not even the teachers liked him. The rugby coach in the primary school didn't consider a rugby practice to be a proper one unless he (the red-head) cried during it.

Eish - that is a bit tough - the bloke was still a kid, just don't pick him. Its different with Puke though since politics were involved.

Aha! It makes sense now. Guys, shame, he was undergoing chemotherapy. That's why he was puking all the time!
