LulzSec hacking group leader arrested

so a person is jailed for embarrassing the government. what about the real cyber criminals

LOL! Well there you have it guys... the head of LulzSec

Australian Federal Police have arrested the self-proclaimed leader of the international hacking group LulzSec, the collective that claimed responsibility for infiltrating and shutting down the CIA website.

Police said the 24-year-old IT worker, who held a position of trust at an international company, was arrested in Sydney on Tuesday evening and charged with hacking offences that carry a maximum penalty of 10 years.

He's not a hacker, he's just a flipping unethical individual who abused his position of trust. This is the type of person we often glorify with this uber cool title of 'hacker' - nothing but an untrustworthy person.

What I don't get is how come the guy is still out there hacking? And how come Anonymous associate with the guy after last year's episode?

NEW YORK -- The shadowy underworld of Internet hackers was rocked Tuesday by news that one of the world's most-wanted and most-feared computer vandals has been an FBI informant for months and helped authorities build a case against five people they say were comrades.

The FBI said it captured the legendary hacker known as Sabu last June and he turned out to be Hector Xavier Monsegur, a 28-year-old self-taught, unemployed computer programmer with no college education, living on welfare in public housing in New York.

His exploits made him a hero to some in cyberspace until he made a rookie mistake – he posted something online without cloaking his IP address, or computer identity – and someone tipped off the FBI.
