Has anyone been able to use the Contacts transfer feature with Bluetooth ?

I could not get it to pair with my 6110 Navigator.
Error given: 'pairing not supported' ?

Also tried Bluetooth pairing with a Blackberry bold and a Dell Streak tablet (Android) and HTC Android phone - same error: 'pairing not supported'

Fortunately all my contacts have been synced with my Gmail account - so it's not a major issue.
Just not sure why bluetooth pairing does not seem to work.

Strange. I don't know why that is.
It worked first time for me and I never looked again.
Seems like everything that can go wrong, is going wrong for you :P

gave it in at Vodacare. They could not fix it.
They've sent it to Nokia - 7 -> 14 days :(

aww man. @sammya, I have enjoyed your comments on this forum so far... Both good and bad... Hope this experience does not outweigh the bad to such an extent that it gives an overall bad impression

I called Nokia support and this is what they say about Nokia Lumia 800 Bluetooth.
Ref: 1-12196935255
- It can ONLY be used for Contacts transfer with COMPATIBLE Nokia phones. (Only late model Nokia phones - not 6110 Navigator)

There is a BIG problem with this:
This is what the Nokia & GSM Arena websites say it should be.

Nokia Developer specs: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/Lumia_800/
Local Connectivity
- Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR
- Bluetooth Stereo Audio

Bluetooth Profiles
A2DP 1.2 Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
AVCTP 1.0 Audio/Video Control Transport Profile (AVDTP)
AVDTP 1.0 Audio/Video Distribution Transport Profile (AVDTP)
AVRCP 1.3 Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
GAVDP 1.2 Generic Audio/Video Distribution Profile (GAVDP)
HFP 1.5 Hands-Free Profile (HFP)
HSP 1.1 Headset Profile (HSP)
PBAP 1.0 Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP, PBA)
RFCOMM 1.0 Radio Frequency Communications (RFCOMM)
SPP 1.0 Serial Port Profile (SPP)

GSM Arena Listed Specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_lumia_800-4240.php
Bluetooth 2.1
A2DP Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
EDR Enhanced Data Rate (EDR)

Bluetooth 2.1 promises much improved Bluetooth PAIRING :p and ease of USE :erm: http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=12921

All devices with Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR will be backwards compatible with all earlier Bluetooth specifications and will support pairing techniques employed by devices without the improved pairing feature.

i trust that good old Nokia hardware does actually support the 2.1 specification - or else the specs reported are a blatant lie.

...... it seems though that WP 7.5 is the bugger.... as apparently the Bluetooth issue is not limited to Nokia Lumia 800

I found someone with an E-series Nokia:
- Just trying to do Bluetooth pairing by itself does not work
- When using the Contacts transfer function the Bluetooth pairing does work

This at least agrees with the Nokia support answer.
- It can ONLY be used for Contacts Transfer with COMPATIBLE Nokia phones

i.e. the hardware (Nokia) supports Bluetooth but the software (WP 7.5) only allows this with the Contacts Transfer function and only with compatible Nokia phones.

The Os has got serious short commings for mine. If people are just using a phne for Facebook and twitter and make a decision based on that then i think the world has a problem.

Hi peeps.....I jus spoke to the guys @ nokia on +27861166542, they confirmed with me that the lumia windows phones are not meant for pairing with other phones for purposes transfering media files. I guess they following suit of the iPhone, as they deem the transfering of large files unsafe for windows phones.......The only things it can pair with via bluetooth are (audio devices)headsets & laptops & stuff.......I guess the primary function of the bluetooth on the lumia's is for transferring the little things like contacts-lists, etc.....What a bummer....how i miss my BB now
