lumpy idle & engine light

That is their usual excuse when they don't know what is actually wrong. Get the idle control valve cleaned- there are plenty diy howto's on the net. It either sticks open which gives the high speed problems or closed which gives the idling problems. 10 minutes with some carb cleaner and you're sorted.
