A friend of mine purchased a Lux Power 5kw inverter along with lithium batteries from ACDC. They have only been using it with AC power. Initially, after installation, the inverter powered through load shedding and worked properly for the first weekend. However, since then, the inverter does not power during load shedding, and it remains off. When the electricity comes back on, the inverter turns on but does not charge the batteries.

The friend has contacted the same electrician who installed the device, and after testing the batteries, the electrician confirmed that they are working fine. However, the electrician seems unable to identify and fix the problem.

If anyone has any ideas about what could be causing the issue, please let us know. I have attached some pictures of the LCD display and some of the connections. There is also a warning of 27 that we would appreciate some clarification on.

Also the dongle shows that it is connected to WiFi but not communicating with inverter or cloud?

Looks like the installer connected to the generator input? Could your friend remove the bottom cover and take a picture of the internal connections?
Yeah does look like that, also there is no AC output or in

I have had it previously where some fly by night installers just connect to the generator port and set it up as a smart output to allow the batteries to carry the load... as soon as battery runs out there is no way to charge battery and system basically dies... I hope this is not the case...

I am afraid to do that lest we damage something

In Ballito, will forward them your contact details.

Thank you for all the advice. I agree that it is likely that the electrician connected the inverter to the wrong port. It seems that he has been attempting to fix the inverter by rebooting it daily with no success, and claiming that it is a very complex system.

it doesnt matter what port you take the cable through though .the connections inside are clearly marked on those units .ac in ac out and gene .but where the f is the ac out ?has he hidden it through the wall.no output to the changeover contactor so it will never switch to ups

WO27 ERROR is battery open .ie check that the battery output is connected to the inverter and is ok .are there fuses in and ok .i also dont see a battery isolator or cb unless its in trunking and is off or the software isnt turning the battery on .data cable may not be ok

This so such a dodge install... Wow. Your friend needs to get a refund on the labour and install coz it's terrible and might even be dangerous

That is the only wire I see going into the inverter :X for ac that is

on the battery
is the run light flickering every few seconds?

if the run light isn't flashing
press and hold the button on the left for 4 seconds , if the run light comes on let it go
it should then pulse like a heart beat

forgot to mention only do this when inverter is on, as the battery is too flat it may power down again
if the inverter is on it should stay on and start charging

if the run light stays on then there is a problem,
then press and hold the power button for 8 seconds to switch the battery off again

from what i can see the battery switched off because it was too low,
and seems it did not come on by itself when power returned

when you power it on it will take some time to recharge

there is a possibility that the installer used a wire with multiple cores , ie the one black wire has more than 3 strands , so it is doing the function of bringing power into the inverter and taking it back to your power box

if you do get someone around have them check the black wire thickness

what all do you have on the inverter ? whole house or just certain items?

Certain items

The cover that covers the wires is only kept in place with a few screws and removing it has very little chance of damaging anything but will get you some advice on here

ie some guys here would be able to tell you if wired incorrectly

As long as you don't put your hands in there and touch any connections also low risk
