This rant about 350 years of oppression by Gillian Schutte shows her complete ignorance of history – or the deliberate perversion of history in true Soviet style.
Until the mid 1830s the black men who inhabited the interior (which was later called the OFS, Transvaal & Natal) had never seen a white man and what they did to each other under heroes like Shaka, Mozilikaze, Mantatise & Dingaan was genocide, estimated at 2 – 3 million deaths and carried out with unbelievable cruelty.
In those happy, PRE-apartheid times the value of the black female was measured, as it still is today, in terms of a few cows.
Only after the defeat of Cetshwayo at Ulundi in 1879 did any sort of peace come to the land and the black man (and a very few black women) learned about such colonial evils as the plough, writing, decent medicine etc.
The forty years of apartheid was a tiny blink in the history of the black man and, during that time, the black population increased from about 12.7 million to over 37 million – some oppression.
Yes Gillian! Apartheid WAS a rotten system but it was somewhat better that what went before it.
You and your comrades are actually incredibly lucky that you can blame apartheid for the deficiencies and dishonesty of the present “government” far into the future.
