That card uses the VIA Envy chipset which is not better than creative's chipsets(xfi) but it's debatable, it's still a good card.

I heard many opinions that these cards are superior to Creative cards,
mainly from US people. Even recently virtually every Slashdot poster was
glorifying M-Audio vs Creative.

It's better than the audigy no doubt, but X-fi is creative's latest chip and for gaming the X-fi beats the Envy, sound quality is debatable.
I prefer the ASUS Xonar and getting myself one soon.

That's the Xonar DX, I'm getting the Xonar D2.

Edit:
C-media chipsets are also pretty damn good, used in some Auzentech cards.
Asus and C-media worked together on the Xonar apparently.
What I like about the ASUS is driver support and Burr-Brown DAC, creative don't come close in this field.
