I'm running Ubuntu 6.06 in Microsoft Virtual PC without any problems. Took ages to install though.ic said:M$ has a habit of assuming that Windoze is the only OS that should be allowed to exist on a PC - from OEM policies all the way through to its boot-loader, not surprised that M$ decided not to support Linux in its Virtual PC s/w [or whatever it's called].
Bear in mind, quite a few Linux distros install X with 24bit color as default... check Ubuntu's KB for details on how to fix if you don't already know.thorin1 said:Thanks - am about to try it... 19 or so megs. don't need 24 bit color... what's speed like?

Not officially, but Linux runs quite happily within VPC ("Other OS")ic said:Ok so M$ does support Linux then?
Again, not offically.ic said:that gave me the impression that M$'s Virtual PC or whatever doesn't support Linux in a virtual machine at all...![]()
VMWare's network bridge drivers (I assume, based on several investigations I did) kept freezing my machine. Uninstall VMWare - problem solved. Not just one version of VMWare either.ic said:Curious, what happened with VMware?
