Anybody here with a M1 Pro managed to get two monitors working on their lappy? If so how?

Technically not possible on M1

I've tried all the dongle from local retailers with my M1, no luck.

The only thing that is guaranteed to work is Pluggable, but you don't get them in SA, but GTX Gaming dan probably sort you out via Amazon import when he does his orders again.

Caldigit is also an option also not available in SA, but also I've not personally seen them work with more than one monitor on M1.

True, any DisplayLink hub will work, but its funny magic so usage may vary, I tried a cheap DisplayLink hub and it lagged.

How is that dell's response moving between the two screens?
No display issues at all. Buttery smooth.

Thinking of selling my 2017 Mbp for am m1 upgrade, i guess ill use my old machine for a while longer
Lol the M1s only have 2 USB-C ports so I appreciate the additional ports too.

Well do you really need 3 monitors?

Personally I hardly use the 2nd one, never mind the third.

Also when you see what an Adam adaptor and such costs this is actually pretty well priced.

I spent the whole afternoon looking for something like this. Awesome thank you! I see it also has an Ethernet port and alles. Youre getting full 1Gb Ethernet?

Gonna try this on my M1 MBP to see how it’ll work to replace my win10 rig. Did you buy from loot themselves? Did it come with a usb-c cable?

Hi, yes it's 1Gb ethernet. Ordered from Loot but it's also available at FirstShop: https://www.firstshop.co.za/products/dell-d3100-wired-black-452-bbor-95254

It comes with USB-A cable unfortunately so I also ordered a USB-A to USB-C adapter from takealot.
There is one that comes with USB-C but it's heavier on the wallet :p https://www.takealot.com/dell-wd19s-130w-usb-c-docking-station/PLID72835863 nvm doesn't support DisplayLink.

Hi there,

I've come across this thread and decided to give this a shot with my M1 MacBook Pro... I ordered the Dell WD19s from Takealot, installed the DispayLink Drivers and unfortunately, it did not work as expected, it only mirrors my first external display to the others, but furthermore, it is an excellent dock with PD and charges the MBP just fine and everything just works!

I've just ordered the Dell D3100 from FirstShop, with a USB Type C to USB 3.0 Type A (Female) Adapter Cable, and will then most probably get the result I'm hoping for, as @PeterPan420 had great success in doing so with the exact same dock.

See https://www.displaylink.com/products/universal-docking-stations for compatible docks - the Dell D3100 is the only one I could find locally available in-stock, wouldn't mind the Targus QV4K (here) but unfortunately, it is not in stock at this stage...

Will update this once I've received the new dock! :)

That's great. If you have a 4k monitor just make sure to use DP.

I'm running my two external monitors with 1 x 1440p@60hz via DP and 1 x 1440p@50hz via HDMI

Received the new Dell D3100 Dock, all working 100% as expected!

I'm even able to run my "main" display at 1080p@120hz via DP without any hassles, and then an old-ish Dell at 1080p@60hz via HDMI.

Thanks a lot @PeterPan420 for creating this thread and sharing the solution! :)

Hey @PeterPan420 - thanks for sharing with the community - really helpful for the M1 owners! Since it’s been about 8 months do you have any update? Is everything still running smoothly? I have heard that some of the pluggable display link products get a bit buggy after some time - has Dell done any better in your experience?
