My M42-EOS adaptors arrive tomorrow, can't wait to attach the Sigma 400mm fixed lense to my 550D, maybe even with a couple out the M42 etenders in between :) Will post photo's of the setup and the results as soon as they are in my hands :)

1st test, +-45 year old Ashi PENTAX 135mm lense, will post all lense details soon.

I guess it makes sense calling it a lense since it's that old. ;) :p

WOOOOOHOOOOO I'm so excited :D :D in the post right now is a SMC Takumar 135mm f2.5 and a Tamron 70-220mm f4 :D :D got both for a bargain and a chipped M42 to EF adapter. I will post some pics this week hopefully :D

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOO I got my lenses in the post today!!!! All I can say is wow, I think they time travelled out of the 70s!! Not a single mark on both lenses, glass is pristine and focus and zoom rings buttery smooth. I only got home after dark and absolutely hate taking photos inside my flat so tomorrow I'm going to explore a bit and I will post some pics asap. From the few test pics I have taken, the Tak 135mm f2.5 is soft @ 2.5 but sharpens up completely at f5.6, the Tamron 70-220mm is reasonably sharp at f4 and super sharp at f6.3. I am really really happy considering I paid R200 for the Tamron and R600 for the Tak :D

PS Echo, soz for highjacking your thread, tomorrow I'll start a new one :)

No problem :) What did you pay for the chipped M42-EOS adaptor by the way?

R240 which is pretty much a bargain. There is a guy (rsaddler I think) who sells them for R235 ex pp. I use it in Av mode and set it to 1.4 and miraculously the camera gets the exposure spot on every time :D

okay I am curious now where would I get a chipped M42-EOS adapter?

Let me see if I understand this. You're still focusing manually but the chipped adapter enables focus confirmation . . . unless you're shooting above f/8 (or f/5.6 on a non 1D body)?

Jip pretty much, with my 50D the focus points also light up showing where you are in focus BUT I have found that there is a definite microadjustment needed for both lenses. I will see if I can do this for the adapter. Under very bright conditions I can still get AF confirmation at f8 but not any higher.

I ordered my standard ones from CameraStuff.co.za I'm sure they should be able to get the chipped ones as well.

I've just found an old pentax -m 1:1.7 50mm that I'd love to use on an old 400D - is the M42-EOS adapter what I'm looking for?

EDIT - nevermind - the lens is a k-mount. :o

So this is what I should be looking for, right? http://www.amazon.com/Pentax-Lens-C...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1315303120&sr=1-1

Sorry for the late reply, have a look here http://www.novoflex.com/en/products/adapters/ if you can't find the adapter then it does not exist :) but I am sure I saw a K-Mount to EOS

Let me know how it goes with the K-Mount convertor, as I have come across some lenses :)
