Hey,

Anyone got some ideas and thoughts on the best low-priced .dmg creator for Mac software installs? I am looking at making my GPS Maps compatible and installable on Macs now, but need to package them in a neat little installer for customer ease of install. This will be my first time attempting to do this on Macs (although I am fairly decent in Windows with installers).

I want to be able to add a password into the install process, and add multiple files as I need to.

What software is best to use? Tips and tricks that you know of?

Thanks in advance. Now us Mac guys are free of Garmin PC use (well, I'm not still... but my customers can be! ;) )

You got an answer for Mapsource on the Mac??

Have you tried to gooogle for a dmg packager - I definitely did see one a while back but cannot recall where or what the cost was (if any).

Making the dmg is easy enough - you can do that with disk utility. Have you made the actual package yet?

Found project Bobcat from yr other post - working like a bomb with the maps converted from the PC - methinks it only converts the licensing information.

Why do you want to have an "installer" - does the app need it?

Easiest is just to make a dmg of the app in a folder and get the user to copy the folder to wherever they would like. Installers are to be viewed with suspicion - better that the app is self-contained and does not spread rubbish over your system a la Windows.
