people question whether or not the Mac’s long tenure as being a malware-free system is coming to a close and to face facts and install AV software.

You know, both the trojans require you to:

1. Download software illegally and run the crack.
2. Type your root password to allow the software to install.

It's not exactly like Windows where you can get infected just by going about your business on thie internet.

Simple rule DO NOT DOWNLOAD DODGY ****, if you do not know what it is do not run it.
