Mac Mini M1 really doesn't like wireless mouses?

So last year sometime I got a Logitech M720 mouse which works flawlessly on other devices via Bluetooth and \ or the unifying receiver that it comes packaged with. I have it paired to a desktop, laptop and used to pair it to my Mac Mini via Bluetooth. It didn't work 100% at the time, but well enough that I couldn't really perceive a problem with it per se.

I then updated the Mac Mini to Monterey a few weeks after that released and then the fun began... the mouse started lagging constantly. Often had to be reset, unplugged, unpaired and so on. I followed many support articles' advice and reset the bluetooth module a few times - once again, repaired, restarted, unplugged, used different USB ports, changed mouse batteries, etc. and with no lasting solution I eventually decided to use a spare "unifying receiver" that came bundled with my wireless keyboard for the Mac Mini. Now it seems, that even the unifying receiver doesn't keep the mouse connected with the Logi Bolt options software showing that the mouse frequently disconnects which causes lag as well and sometimes to the point where the mouse no longer works at all and I have to use a wired mouse to work the computer until it has been rebooted.

The mouse works flawlessly on Windows devices via Bluetooth and both unifying receivers as well as iOS and iPadOS devices via Bluetooth... In the same location as where the Mac Mini is - so that should rule out any kind of WIFI or Bluetooth interference... unless the Mac Mini is just a lot more sensitive than any other Windows or iOS \ iPadOS device wrt the mouse's wireless signal. Interestingly enough, my Logitech Wireless keyboard stays connected to the the Mac Mini without any issues (tested with Bluetooth as well as the receiver). It only seems to have problems with keeping the mouse connected?

Are you using a USB-C based adaptor of some kind?

There is a phenomenon of interference with USB-C that can often affect Bluetooth and relates to crappy adaptors causing it.

The fact that it also doesn't work with the official receiver though makes me think something else is afoot as the above usually doesn't apply to that.

Yes but do you have anything plugged into other USB ports that could cause interference?

I have this with a USB hub. took me forever of being irritated to realize my Logitech MX Master 3 wouldn't track properly on my Macbook Pro - only when the USB Hub was plugged in...

Stupid cheap hub.

Ok, seems SauronZA and neoprema are correct - I had a USB C HDD plugged in to my Mac Mini as well as a USB-A hub... seems the USB hub was the actual culprit as the mouse now behaves as it should. Thanks for the support guys, I would never in a million years have figured the hub was causing interference.

Sometimes you can ghetto style it and wrap it in all sorts of different things to resolve the problem.
