Mac WiFi and marconi

Can anyone give me some advise. Had to buy a new macbook pro. Now i am unable to connect wirelessly with Telkoms Marconi premium combo adsl router. Not a security issue as i have made it an open network. Used to work with my old powerbook. also not laptop as airport works perfectly with WiFi(netgear) in my office. Is there something new in the hardware/software?

I know you said the network is open but are you sure you're not using mac addresses on the router?

That's what I was thinking ... MAC Access control list

No not using mac addresses. maybe a better way of setting it up?

yup. to a PC. Have not tried it wired to Macb pro

will try and see if that works. unfortunately cant be a permanent solution as it is located in my hospital. thanks for your help.
