Hi guys,

I am getting the attached errors when I shutdown my MacBook Air, and then when I start it up again? Any ideas? Still under warranty.

mine is a mid 2013 model and on every single day, i have never had a single issue.

you say it is under warranty? just return it and get it sorted
good luck

Got mine in feb. I have heard such bad things about core when repairing Apple products. I’m so scared to take it in and it’s a schlep to “format” my things off. Was hoping it’s something I could fix.

You don’t need either of those.

But start with nuking ESET and see if your problem goes away.

I anyway use Apple mail, just have outlook for a few things Mail can’t do.
I’ll uninstall ESET and hopefully it gets better

Yup. It’s ESET.

Says it right there.

I hope it has a proper uninstall utility otherwise you’ll need to manually go kill off the bad guys hiding in the system folders.

Seems like it might be having some issue relating to accessing or scanning a USB/FireWire/Lightning or other IO device.

Or it might just be crap and happens to stop there.

Ugh, at least I know it’s that. So a simple move to bin in finder won’t do the trick?

It may very well do.

If there is no uninstall tool just do that and see how it goes.

Seems you are far from the only one.

If you really feel you must install an antivirus try the Sophos for Mac one. It used to be free and decent but it’s been a few years since I tried it.

Thanks for all the detailed help, I see it has a Uninstaller. I’ll let you know how it goes.

So the uninstall of ESET seems to have fixed the issue, haven't had a problem shutting down or starting up. Thanks guys!
