What you need depends on what you want to do.

Included software
Mac OS X Snow Leopard - Includes iTunes, Time Machine, Quick Look, Spaces, Spotlight, Dashboard, Mail, iChat, Safari, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Photo Booth, Front Row, and more. Learn more about Mac OS X Snow Leopard

iLife - Includes iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD.

I'll be doing mostly general office work - email, browsing, word, excel, powerpoint, email & iTunes.

Does office for mac cost the same as normal office?

Sounds like you'll need to buy MS Office.

Once you've navigated your way through the myriad of different versions of Office, yes, more or less. I would recommend you hang on before buying Office - the 2011 release, which by all accounts is a giant leap forward for Office on the Mac, has just been announced and should hit stores some time soon.

Alternatively, if you don't need MS Office specifically, OpenOffice is available for Mac, and on the paid front, iWork is pretty decent.

:) if you didnt say iTunes i would say get a Microsoft PC.. LOL - but yeah depends on what you want to do.. the Air is pretty sweet.. but i prefer my Macbook Pro

P.s check Incredible Corruption - they have Office 2011 for Mac..

Your machine will have Mail, Address Book and iCal as well as Safari which covers the email and browsing part.
You should really try iWork before springing for Office for Mac 'tho... It's clean and simple and allows you to save things in .doc or .xls or .ppt formats... Functionality will take you a day or two getting used to (things like "inspector" for formatting) but iWork is one of the many reasons I'll never own a Windows machine again (you can go ahead and read that as fanboy).
If you still feel you need to get Office for Mac, make sure you get '11 (Incredible Connection has a single user Home & Student version for R1199,00, iWork is R799,00). Office for Mac '11 now has Outlook as opposed to '08's Entourage and most people think it's a big improvement. I tried the beta for a while but it's way too heavily cluttered with the Ribbon thingies for my liking. It'll come down to what you are comfortable with and personal taste in the end.
Give the Mac apps a chance 'tho...

Where can you get one with Windows 7?

Doesn't stop you from buying Windows 7 and installing it, although I can't imagine why you would want to do that ;)

Yes - an OS should be no more than 5GB so you can install plenty of them if you want
