Sorry if this has been posted before, but I have a Apple MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (Mid-2010) A1342
LINK

I have 2 x 1GB memory modules installed but I want to up this to the max. Apple says max 2 x 2GB but forums including everymac.com link above say 2 x 4GB is the limit.

I have tried installing several combinations of DDR3 1333MHZ memory, but nothing worked so it looks like this will not downclock and I need to be looking at 1066MHZ - this could also be due to the fact that I am still running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 ? If I upgrade to Lion could this change things?

Else I am looking at purchasing and installing Patriot DDR3 1066MHz 4GB SO-DIMM for Apple Mac - http://digitalsushi.co.za/pc-mac/ma...066mhz-4gb-so-dimm-for-apple-mac-psa34g10662s

Any advise would be awesome :)

Thanks!

The core 2 duo is limited to 4gb if my memory serves me well. Try limiting to 4gb and see what happens. Also, I've posted a hot-to somewhere. Try it

I have a macbook white with 1066 slots..upgraded to 1066 4Gig (new) + 1(old) and system information shows me 5 gigs...

Running Lion currently...

I'm pretty sure it supports 2 x 4GB but its very important to use 1066 due to some bus clock ratio thing on the C2D.

Been battling to find 1066mhz ram myself. Want to upgrade my mid 2010 macbook pro to 8GB but the cheapest 1066 is about 4 times the price of 1333mhz. Perhaps someone knows where to find it for a reasonable price :)

2009 and 2010 (for educational institutions) models support up to 8GB, 1066MHZ DDR3 SO DIMM

I had this with the same model of Mac, and as other people mention it works fine with one old stick and one new stick, since the Mac automatically slows the RAM speed down to that of the slowest stick.

If you want both to work you need to use something like Thaiphoon Burner which lets you overwrite the settings stored in the RAM, so that the RAM tells the MBP it's 1066 instead of 1333.

Just need Windows in Boot Camp, stick in one new stick with one old stick, get it to boot up and overwrite the settings in the new stick. Then you can put in both new sticks and overwrite the other ones settings and you're done. 8GB in the MBP.

I have a mid 2009 13" Macbook Pro running OSX 10.6.8
I installed 2 x 4gb ram modules and they are recognised and work fine.
I bought them online - here is the link : http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?cPath=512_582&products_id=47392&language=en

Check the specs at the above link to see if it matches the specs of the ram currently installed on your Macbook.
