The trackpad issue was a bit of a giveaway I'm afraid.

That's interesting.

I left it to try and charge overnight.

This morning it was very hot.

The swelling on the battery went down after it cooled off as well.

Anyway, either heat or some other battery malfunction had it hanging at the slightest command.

That battery is fcked - do not put it back in.

Replacement battery going to cost you about 2.2k for genuine and R900 for 3rd party (this number may be understated) - 3rd party battery will only last about a year so not worth it imo - after going through one of them, I turned it into a "desktop" laptop - ie ran without battery.

It's still doing yeoman service as a Grade 9 homework/social/movie machine :D

Battery is not going back. I am scared to touch it, just now it leaks.

I saw ebay had batteries for around R500 from Hong Kong including postage so guessing it will end up around R650 total.

Anyway, it will not be happening soon.

If anything this will end up being my little private space.
I have 3 pc's at home and can not lay claim to one of them even though I purchased all 3.
Hopefully Osx fixes that...

ROFL - been there :D

The only thing that worked in the end was everyone got their own PC with no shared logins.
