Wonder if anyone might be able to help/give some advice?
I have a macbook pro md311. Late 2011 17 inch model.
2.4 quad core, ssd, 16gb ram, Intel HD Graphics 3000 & AMD Radeon HD 6770M(1GB) with automatic graphics switching
I am trying to connect 2 displays (not mirroring) to my macbook.
My specific model only has one thunderbolt port (or mini display port). No other video outputs.
I already have one 24inch dell monitor connected to the mini display port and set up so that my macbook 17inch display acts as secondary monitor. I need more desktop space. I have a 20inch hp monitor lying around and trying to connect this monitor to my macbook to act as a 3rd monitor.
As I understand, these are my options?
1. Buy a mini display port splitter (apparently this will not suffice as this option will mirror the 2 displays)
2. Leave my dell connected to mini display port and buy a usb to hdmi dongle so that I can connect the hp and set up as 3rd display (according to most articles read this will work for normal spread sheet type work but horrible for video etc.).
3. Buy 2 apple thunderbolt displays which has the option to daisy chain the 2 displays via thunderbolt (way too expensive).
Anyone out there found another way? Some advice please?
Thanks!
