MacBook Pro or not!

VirtualBox is only free if used for Personal Use. If you're a professional photo editor or photographer, you'll need to buy it.

Or I could keep my present Acer laptop and use the Windows 7 DSP on it. Then I could have the best of both worlds but seperately.
My laptop has the following specs:
Core 2 Duo T7700 processor (2.4Ghz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 cache)
15.4" WXGA LCD
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 HyperMemory(up to 1280MB)
4 GB DDR 2 800mhz memory
250 gb HDD (Maybe increase capacity)
DVD - Super Multi DL
802.11 a/b/g/Draft-N WLAN
Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

So maybe the MacPro is just an expensive toy.
But I must admit I love my IPhone 3Gs and that turned me into a Mac Fanboy.

Is the Mac so much better, all things considered?

Why dont you maybe look into an awesome battery for your currnet laptop ? I am sure you can get something that will last like 5 hours for that thing..

Thanks for the response

Thank you all for your responses to this thread. Although I am still slightly confused on some aspects of the issues raised, I feel that I should go for the MBP on the basis of quality, and value for money. ( R16500)
I have looked at many different branded laptops, but have yet to see the quality as presented in the latest MBP.
I am sure that the switch to the Mac OS system will not be that difficult.
What amazes me though is the missing delete key. I know that delete function is provided for, but why not have it as a simple hard key?
But hey, Apple has become famous for being different.
Maybe I will have a last look at the Sony Vaio FW series - but the battery life is not great and that's a negative.
Thanks again to all for contributing your opinions.

Ok, their definition of personal use includes commercial use, I didn't see that. Also it seems to be very liberal. Seems quite pointless really for them to muddle things like that.

I'm used to seeing 'personal use' being synonymous with 'personal non-commercial use'.

I know I can get the OSX versions of Photoshop, but that costs a fortune!

From what I have read before I think it's possible to do a swap between platforms without cost or very minimal cost, contact Adobe directly.

It is 100% possible, the problem is the cost. It is probably not minimal and the local Adobe distributors may add extra charges or not allow it.
