Macbook Pro Retina ANGER

I'm still swearing today. It was a legitimate offer in their brochure. The stores were honoring that price problem was they just sold out very quickly.

Yep. The price was for the 128gb model. It worked out at 12% discount. The real price of the me865 should have been 17599.12

They were selling the 256GB /8GB ram at the same price as the 128GB/4GB RAM at R14595.00. That is why I am swearing.

Hooooooooray!!!

Guess what??
I just bought one tonite ...stock still available in some stores. pM me and I'll tell you where

Go grab it!

I just ordered one online, more stock seemed to have arrived today. Not at the special price though...

Wow that is really a bargain.

Good on IC for getting it wrong and honouring it...that must be a massive loss to them.

Seems they are quite aware though with the normal price written right underneath it. How the hell can it be 5 grand less even on special? They are hardly in the country for a month now.

Got mine today. Thanks tRoN.

It's so new it has Mavericks on it.

I am a new OSX user so need to get use to it and do a lot of reading up. Next step to try get bootcamp and Win 8.1 working.

It might not be a misprint. I can only think Apple is subsidizing it by giving a discount for students. You also get Microsoft Office 2011 with it free which Microsoft probably subsidized. When they rang it up at the till it was 19999 and then I provided my student card and they typed in some discount code and by magic the price dropped by 5K.

I don't mind if these companies think tertiary students are trend setters so we get nice discounts because I benefit from it.

It was definitively a misprint. The clever sales guys knew it.
The brochure clearly stated 12% student discount. So the 128gb model was correct.
This model should have been R17599.

Jip, makes absolutely no sense to sell new models - ones that
are generally in short supply and in big demand for xmas spending period - on special at launch time.

Then this 25% discount misprint was a nice Christmas present from IC. :)

I'm going to look at their catalogues much closer in future.

I always used to call them incredible corruption so I am glad it was in my favour this time.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

How are you ever going to learn OSX if you have an easy out to jump ship to Windows?

Trust me use OSX as is for a month at least, then see if you still need Windows at all.

i need the programs in Windows. Visual studio most importantly.

No exclusive right click button on the laptop apart from two tap is probably my biggest gripe but i guest i will get use to it

Are you referring to bootcamp?

In OsX:

I thought this would be an issue for me aswell, turns out I'm now a load more used to the right-bottom-corner-of-pad=rightclick option (in Settings), and I try to use that on other computers too :/

Visual Studio and .Net is a big part of why people still use Windows.

When the whole trackpad is highly configurable having individual buttons is kind of redundant.

Visual studio runs perfectly fine in a Parallels virtual machine (I use it regularly) and you'll even find it easier than booting into bootcamp + Parallels can boot Windows from your bootcamp partition. Try it, you'll soon love it.

The trackpad used on Apple products is amazing. I find it strange that the multitude of Windows OEM's combined with Microsoft haven't tried to improve gesture support to at least match Apple's trackpad. I tried using two finger scrolling today on a HP laptop and gave up after a few seconds. It was sluggish and unresponsive when compared to my MacBook. The rest of the hardware on my MacBook is much of a muchness. Most of it is the same as a Windows laptop wrapped up in a very cleverly designed/expensive chassis. But for me, the trackpad is the killer feature.
