Does the MacBook have a TV output - like a SVHS TV out or something similar? Can't seem to find out on the site - appears not to have.

I have to get a gift from my company (long service) and am looking at this instead of a Mac mini.

mmmm - me thinking now, my TV has a VGA input so it is not necessary but would still like to know.

Video output on the MacBook is a mini-DVI video out.[mini-DVI output port with support for DVI, VGA, S-video, and composite video (requires adapters, sold separately)].
If you have the choice between the MacBook and the mini - its a no brainer, the MacBook is worth nearly twice as much.
BTW don't buy till after Macworld as you'll get the new versions of iLife etc

You will pay around R250 for the adapter which works really well.

However any changes after Macworld will take a few months for the stock to get down here so you will probably have to wait a while to get one with iLife 07 on it.
I have a Macbook and it is an awesome machine (even though it is a Gen 1 Macbook and has a few issues.)

I get the impression that the stock gets here about two weeks after it is available, but Core keeps the new goodies at the bottom of a sock draw somewhere while they try to move the older stock.:)

Not knowing much about apple software, will iLife 07 be such an improvement on 06?

I see that ZA Store do not have the Macbook 2 ghz in stock anyway and knowing them it could take a while for stock to get here.

Don't know what's in iLife 07, but it's placemarked on Amazon already. We should know at Macworld. Get the widget.
By the looks of it not anymore - I wonder if they were encouraged to pull it?

Bugger that (iLife 07), I have traced 5 Macbook 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo's in Pretoria - will get one when I am back from leave and then Bwana can be my Apple mentor.

I am burning to see why everyone is so crazy about Mac's.

What makes you think that? In the past they were getting new stock before anyone else, what's changed??

There's bound to be a release/revamp from Apple soon so I would wait. There a show in January isn't there ... Maybe they'll upgrade the 20" iMacs and put a decent graphics card in it.

Yeah - this week as a matter of fact (8-12 Jan). I think Job's keynote is on the 9th.

I'm excited about iLife 07 only because it should finally include a spreadsheet.
