Sounds about right.According to Core the motherboard needs to be replaced. At a cost of R12k.
I have a flashing ? folder displaying on start up on my MacBook I asked the guys at istore to repair they said the hard drive is faulty didn't even check or do a diagnostic
Remember, Core's business principle is to try and steal as much money from you as possible with the least amount of service...
I would have a second opinion on that board before making a decision, even if it does need to be replaced, you could probably find it cheaper.
I had an iPhone with an erratic home button after 1 year. Core Group wanted R5000 for repairs. I took it with me to the US on Holiday, walked into an Apple shop and walked out with it repaired for NOTHING.
Never trust anything Core Group tells you, ever.
EBay is still a risk, 2hnd boards - little guarantee apart from doa?Take it to iFix/ weFix for diagnostics. If the board has really failed, order one on ebay and get someone to install for you. You'll save over R6K.
That's the point I was making - on eBay no guarantee apart from Doa, a risky R6k investment for a 2hnd part. You can take it back if it's doa, ebay covers that & check the seller's ratings to make sure.
Link to their website?Try these guys out they fixed a Mac and a alienware for me that had a coffee spill, they fixed only the broken components in th board. They called "supemia computers" they in Sandburg fixed a motherboard for me that dell wanted R18k for and they charged me R1700. If you need details pm me I will try get your more help, but they fix Mac anything also it was there for only a day and they cleaned it to look as if it is brand new. Amazing company
