Do some reading up first - you have to be sure to copy over ALL the relevant library/settings files, or risk losing ratings/play counts/album art/song info etc.

Google will throw up plenty of tutorials - just follow them carefully. Quite simple if done right. Or look at something like Tunespan. Overkill - but works great, and has some nice features.

Yep... Finder/Music... Copy the whole iTunes folder across to the new drive.

What would your thoughts be if I were to have my iTunes library on the Jet Drive and leave it in the laptop permanently as I would use my iTunes daily and never usually have a need to put any other SD card into my laptop.

Would it do any harm to the laptop, affect the battery life etc?

Can't imagine there would be any issues at all... I'd guess the brightness of your screen would have a greater effect on battery life.

Giving this thread a bump as I was keen on getting one of these and it arrived today.

I have gotten it purely to move my iTunes library to it as well as Lightroom just to free up the 60 odd gig on my HDD.

It's copied 45GB of Music in around 5 minutes, so it's pretty quick.

I have a cover on the Mac, so the drive doesn't extend past that, so for me it's flush. But it does protrude about 1-3mm from the body.

I got the 360 Lite 64GB.

Rectron are selling them for R511 incl.

Had one for my older 15", did work well. The only annoyance is that every now and then, just a touch would cause it to unmount.

Then you'd have a restart most apps that were connected to it. There's also the Nifty Microdrive which is micro SD card adapter that sites completely flush. They sell it in the iStores.

I've had a look at the nifty. It's $40 for the adapter, and then whatever it costs for the SD card. So it works out to almost double the price.

Mine works well. Created Nov 12, 2014. Still works OK. Stays in the slot 24/7.
