Hi

I bought a macbook white in 2009, the performance is low when i use the VM ware which i do for work. So i figure its time to upgrade the memory module.

I know this is old news; i have read on the internet that macbook white can take 8GB RAM since the OS is 64 bit, has any one in SA tried this before, if so where is the best place to buy a DDR3 memory for macbook.

You input is highly appreciated

Thanks

Any ram with the same timing and speed will work, I've used generic ram from different laptops in my old macbook white, no issues.

Yes it will be fine, dont go to digicape though they charge just over a thousand rand for it but from someone like esquire you can get it for under R200

Yeah, although PC ram is packaged as 1066MHz not 1067MHz but basically the same thing, it's the same intel architecture anyway.

After installation just run a hardware test:

And optionally reset the PRAM.

yes will do, i have been to digicape before and not going there again, not even core they charge more than digicape for ram modules..

can i also put 4 GB 1333 ram kingmax ram in the macbook white.. according to the sales guy it will down scale to 1066.....
Yes faster ram will downscale, if it's timing and speeds are compatible it should be stable. You should be able to see it's supported speeds on the manufacturers website.
