Hello guys,

Well I can no longer sit without a pc as it is driving me crazy at this stage, I need to buy a new system for about R7000.00. I like pc int but cant decide to go for I7 or stay with 775. I need a basic PC for playing games on the LCD tv again. X**** is getting boring now.

What do you suppose I need to find myself ?

I wil need case,PSU,cpu, mem,MB,GFX,keyboard and mouse. I would prefer a micro atx with a sff case.

Point me in correct direction NO second hand goods please.

Thank you.

i don't think R7k will be enough for an i7 build, i mean the cpu, mobo and ram alone will cost you about R6k

so i think you should rather go for an AMD build as you will get more bang for your buck.

Hey Gabba

R7000 wont be enough for an I7 build. I went the Core 2 Quad route and it cost me close to R7500. That was with upgraded cooling and using my old graphics card and hdd.

This is what I could suggest, not quite R7000(total:R7500) but for a pretty balanced PC...
BTW That phenom II is not light years away compared with the i7 920 in terms of benchmarks, and In gaming it basically rivals it...

Slightly off topic but would be better, a gfx card with more memory running slower or a gfx with less memory running faster?

i.e. ATI® Radeon HD4650, 1GB 128Bit GDDR2 or ATI® Radeon HD4670, 512MB 128Bit GDDR3

i think it depends on the resolutions that you will be running with the card. 512MB will struggle at higher resolutions

Definitely get the Radeon HD4670, the extra memory of the HD4650 isn't needed at lower resolutions. The HD4670 is faster that the HD 4650.

Cool, my system I had and sold was a Q9550 4gig ram GTX260 216 swopped out for 9800GX2 750GB HDD etc etc. I just need something to do 1080p on the lcd for cheap. I dont do all the bells and eye candy at 1080p as I dont notice the diff 4m away.

The AMD system looks good for now, but will take the ATI card above the NVidiot. The 9800gx2 put me off.

The 4670 will far outperform the 4650. Don't worry about how much memory it has unless you have a 4870 or higher.

Not one of the cards can play high rez anyway so the faster the ram is the better.

Not that I have any intention of buying either card. I was merely using them as an example and to get an opinion of whether more ram at reduced speed would be better.

But thanks for the input :D
