Trawling thru the manual (that's the documentation that comes with most equipment Landyman:D ) for the 17" iMac Core 2 Duo reveals that the machine can take 2x2GB RAM sticks, but can only address 3GB. Apple suggests 1x2gb + 1x1gb to max the ram

Any of you gurus out there know if this will apply to windoze under bootcamp? It would almost be worthwhile to have a 4gb box.

Also anybody tried putting >1gb sticks into a 2.5G mac mini?

I always wondered why they pad all my software boxes with these scrap paper booklets, but now I know! Thanks Bob! :D

Is there a local source for the Ram, with exception of Core? If not where do you guys order from internationally?

moot discussion

OK, so I haven't been able to get any more info on this issue, but I have been able to find out why there is so little known about it...
2GB PC2-5300 SO-DIMMs are scarcer than hen's teeth and waaaay more expensive than the equivalent mass of gold... try >$1000 per stick:eek:

So I'll be putting trying out a 3GB imac on the back burner for many months.

Apparently the weed in Taiwan is reeeaaal good bru!
Give it a couple of months and we'll be seeing 4GB 2.67Ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro's... or is that just the ganja getting to me:D
