I have a 70 Mage. I found fire very frustrating for lvling. You burn through mana in seconds and if you dont get those crits you are in trouble. Give full Frost a try, its ezmode and has a lot less downtime
Pom Pyro noobness ftw ^_^ But ye, i have been deep frost and just found it to be very dull. My mana lasts longer with this build due to the intellect, clearcasting and mana regen talents.
I'm sitting at about 10k mana with blues and some epics. My pom pyro crits for round bout 4.5k and fireballs average round 2.5k (then the pleasant ignite ticks . With arcane power my fireballs crit for around 3.4k.
I like the ability to use multiple spell schools. I mix it up with arcane blast, arcane missiles, fireball, scorch, blastwave etc. With frost its basically just frostbolt, nova, frostbolt+icelance rinse repeat.
But ye, im having fun with me mage. Love standing at 41 yards and lobbing fireballs at them cows
Yea Pom-ap-trinket-pyro in a one button macro is awesome Used to get up to 6.5k crits if not more!
Now having dropped down to Arcane frost, I crit with the Pom-ap-trinket-frostbolt combo for about 4.5k! Which is not to bad either
Normal frostbolts avg around 1400 while crits is close to 3k.
Mage is so nice to play if u like those BIG numbers.
Now if I could only get my crit rate up to 40-50%!
lv 70 Horde UD Female ..... full frost is not the best leveling mage talent strat. The most optimal is a fire/frost talent where you have both iceblock and blast wave. Having fire for leveling aint a smart idea.
End Game:
PVP => Frost
PVE => 1. Arcane (with very good gear T5 at least)
2. Arcane/Fire 10-48-3
3. Frost 10-51 (My current talent)
Mages rule, got owned by one last night (same lvl as me). Although in my defence, he waited until I rode past and then decided to jump me (not calling it unfair as it was a legit ambush). But all in all he pwned me solidly.
Only have a lvl 24 mage atm. I've been watching the youtube videos for hints and tips, and I highly recommend 'In Frost We Trust' (its in 2 parts). Frost is a bit boring, but its an insanely easy way to grind for rep, xp & cash.
Though it is an easy way to level, I've found playing a shaman more entertaining. Damn I'm weird.
My mage got repetitive... 2 button spam for grinding/questing/lvling.
After having lvl'd a shammy to 60 (i love my dps classes), i found it alot more exciting than my mage... sure u see big crits as a mage, but when windfury procs its just soo beautiful - burst dps ftw I'm as weird as u Ainsin
