Magic the Gathering Online

hehe i used to play :) was quite fun... I didnt have cash to buy the starter pack ( this was years ago.. I was still in school) so I emailed them and they actually sent me a free pack. The customer support is brilliant and also the people you play against are super friendly, what a pleasure :)

How big is the download dude? This is Magic online 3 now..? I hope my account is still active.

Its around 750MBs, lol, laughable when looking at monsters like WOW and Eve online and Guildwars :)

Hope to see you around, my nick is the same on there as here.

No monthly fee's but if you wanna be able to win ANY matches you have to pay an arm and a leg for boosters and decks?

The pricing is not that bad. Main thing is to build a decent deck. I am currently using an Esper Beat-down deck. It was very cheap, only eight rares I think. Usually game over for myself or my opponent on turn 7.

If you want to see card pricing :- http://marlonmtgo.com/prices.html is your best bet. It's the url of a ingame trading bot by the name of "Marlon" and is measured in $1 tickets.

I am thinking of going to the RL pre-release this weekend, as Zendikar looks like it's going to be a brilliant set.

Blaze you are thinking about preconstructed, big thing all the ppl are playing are drafts and sealed events, where you pay like R240, but get to play a huge draft and keep 6 boosters! Or R150 for a 3 booster draft, this all might sound expensive, but keep in mind you are keeping the cards, AND, if you do well, expect to play through an event like that for 7 hours, AND you win big :)

MTGO is fun if you are working etc and can afford it, its always nice to know that my cards are online, and after a few months ill be over it, and not have my cards eaten by the dog and be devestated 6 months down the line when I want to play again!

You going to the Johannesburg one? :) If so, ill probably see you there lol.

Ye the JHB one, haven't played in YEARS..

Need to buy some card protectors though, Anyone know of any shops that sell card covers on the East Rand ?

Ok back to the topic of pricing :-

Card Name "Master Of Etherium"

Online Playset price $6
Real card Price (Starcitygames.com) $20
ZA Price R240

This says a lot about the state of Magic in this country...

Online I bought my entire deck for less than 1 real playset of Master Of Etherium.

I just started to play MTGO. I used to play the online one quite often... but don't get too much time anymore.

So the online Magic will have to do. (it is cheaper than regular Megic Real Cards.

Also you only need 4 of a specific card (say 4x Thragtusk). You can then use it in multiple decks (maybe a mono green deck or maybe in another deck along with some Red Haste cards etc).

Where'as normally you would need to buy like 8 or more of a specific card (depending how often you use the card in other decks)
