Hey all

Trying to see if there are any Magic the Gathering players in and around the Sunningdale/Table View/Parklands/Blouberg area in Cape Town. I'm currently the Tournament Organizer for the Parklands Battle Bunker and I'm currently on the search for new blood.

Maybe you play Duels of the Planeswalkers game on PS3/PC/Xbox and would like to check out the real card game, it's loads of fun and a great way to meet new people.

If you're interested, just pop me a PM. I'll organise a demo for you and if you sign up for a DCI number, we'll throw in a M13 beginners deck to get you started.

We run Friday Night Magic tournaments at the store, as well as Sunday Morning Magic Tournaments. If you're interested, drop me a PM or reply here and I'll send you the details. You can also join the MTG Cape Town group on Facebook where all events are posted up.

Thanks

glad to see the MTG community growing in CT :D

there is a hole bunch of us here in the northern suburbs playing, I've even a couple of my mates addicted :p

What is the FB link, would like to see what you're up to

Loved the card game back when I used to play every week - still have some of my favourite cards lying around. Only recently got back into it via the PC game, but it definitely lacks the fun of the physical card game.

Been contemplating buying cards with the new series coming up, just need to find time to actually play :D

If you're in the area, come by the shop some time with your old cards, I'm always looking to trade for older cards, as I wasn't playing back in the day, only really started about a year ago.

Edit: Also, the new set is Return To Ravnica and as I understand it, was probably one of the best sets of all. We'll be having a prerelease for the event at the end of Sept, which is loads of fun.

I got back into the cards a couple of months ago after an almost 5 year sabbatical, it has become quite an expensive hobby

Enjoying Duels of the Planeswalkers, but I've notice in 2013 they are very loose with the rules there.

but definitely not missing the Return to Ravnica pre-release :D

The RtR pre-release should be awesome. First pre-release (that I know of anyway), where you'll be able to play with your pre-release promo card. Not only that, but there are 5 different promo cards, which depend on which guild you decide to support/play as. You also get 5 RtR boosters and 1 guild booster exclusive to the guild you support, which means it's going to be so much easier to build build specific decks for the pre-release. It should be loads of fun battling guild vs guild.

We're going to be doing a midnight pre-release on the Friday night, after we play our usual FNM, so we should have decent crowds for both events.

I'm really looking forward to it.

WHAT!?
MTG in Tableview!? I think I need to make a turn there :D Do you do any legacy type events? PM me where your store is (cant get to facebook from work)

Funny you should ask, there's actually a legacy event this Sat morning, 10:30am registration, 11am start. Legacy isn't very big in CPT, but in an attempt to get people into it, the event will be allowing unlimited proxies.

Here's the full details for the event for Sat:

Parklands Battle Bunker - Saturday Legacy Magic - 26/08/2012

The tournament will be run with full rule enforcement as you would find in a normal legacy tournament, with the noticable exception of being allowed to run proxy cards. The proxy's that will be allowed must be generated from the following site:
http://magic.bluebones.net/proxies/

You will need to print these cards. (black/white) and place them over the proxy card. The proxy card must be a basic land. With the magic graphic(back of the card) Facing towards the clear side of the sleeve.

Matte sleeves are required for this tournament (Non see through sleeves).

There is currently no limit as to the amount of proxy's to be used. However i do ask that if you own the original card. Please use it.

Location: The Battle Bunker, Leonardo Park - Corner Link Road and Ravenscourt close across the road from the Caltex Fresh Stop, Table view, Cape Town

Map: http://g.co/maps/c395c

Time: Registration opens at 10:30am, Tournament starts at 11:00am. If you are late, you will receive a game loss after 15 minutes. And a round loss after 20 Minutes.

Going to resurrect this old thread to ask if anyone plays in the Kempton Park/Boksburg/Benoni area. Looking for some groups to play with.
