Hi

I know this has been discussed before but I am looking for the latest solution.

I have setup an IMAP account on my MBP with my hosted email properly

However, gmail IMAP is not setup properly as I cannot see the folders like sent/archive etc on my mail app.

On my iPad, it seems to be setup properly.

Go to View>Show Mailbox List. That should enable the sidebar view showing your mailboxes and folders.

Have you try deleting the account and recreating it from scratch? On 10.9.1, I certainly see both the Sent and Archive folders.

Btw 10.9.2 is also currently being tested; quite a few mail bug fixes are included, hopefully it'll overall improve how Apple mail & Gmail play together.

Just need clarity on the settings in gmail on the web.

Do you include the "all mail" in IMAP or not?
Currently it's off and when I turned on it was downloading all the old deleted mail.
iOS seems fine with all the folders in either case.

The URL you provided does a pretty good job of detailing where to tweak gmail to play better with Apple mail (I certainly can't improve on it).

All Mail: It's a choice, mine is enabled.

Also do you now see the sent and archive folders for gmail?

Well I followed the advice on the link but it didn't work for me. Not sure if there was a mail.app update in the interim.

I haven't tried deleting and reactivating the account yet.

Apple Mail comes bundled with OS X, latest version of OS X is 10.9.1 and Mail is 7.1 (1827) -- you can check this by starting mail, and clicking on the Mail menu, About Mail.

Deleting the account and reconfiguring it is possibly your best bet, but make sure IMAP is activated on GMAIL & that you activated the folders you want in IMAP (in labels), also just to clarify re the UTL you quoted, the setup advice to look at is the syberknight one with all nice screenshots.

This btw is a very simple and very quick process + you won't lose anything (all stored on GMAIL)
