Is there anyway of determining for sure a mail has been read?

I can tick read receipt, but doesn't it ask them if they want to send?

I have someone that claims they haven't received a mail ... so I'm going to resend, but chances are she'll claim the same

The person can choose not to send a read receipt. You won't know if the person received it or not unless you embed some sort of tracking image, but they would need to have images shown on their side.

What about a delivery, rather than read?
I remember that in my Outlook at work?

Here I'm using WLM though - not sure if it can?

Does not look like WLM has it :(

Do you have access to the mail server sending your mail?

If you do you can go through it's tracking logs looking for the mail and a 250 OK response from the remote mail server.

This means that the remote server has accepted the mail, not that it has been delivered to the recipients mailbox or that the recipient has read it though.

AFAIK a Read Receipt is the only way to tell 100% that the user has received and read the mail and that's only if they choose to send it it.

Yep, thats what I do to check if it's sent. That's about as much as you'll know on your side.

The only other thing you could do is add a tracking image to your mail, you'll need to have some site set up though to handle the tracking, the person will have to have the images visible and you won't really know who opened it just that it was opened.

Basically this, then you have registered email services, but these services are a monthly paid service and some are very expensive.
