Telkom Mail Servers are having problems.

Mail is like a snail train today.

I sent an email to someone this morning. They still have not received it.
I should of driven their and handed it to them personally.

Email I sent to myself 30 minutes ago has still not returned.

Come one Telkom what gives?
I pay R1200.00 odd a month for a service that is deteriorating, not improving.

For the last few weeks I've noticed mail taking ages to arrive. Sometimes up to 12 hours after it was sent. It becomes very frustrating when you're desperately waiting to receive an email.

Mail delay is decreasing and should be back to normal level in 2 hours' time.

Yup I've noticed the same. They probably route our mail through a 33.6k modem to save themselves $$$

Hey hArTh its amazing how problems seem to track you. Well not u personally, but anyone. Sounds like a sentech problem. Wonder if they take turns.

Actually, its like travelling in the traffic, the one lane is going faster so you move across, and so does everyone else, and wham, you are in the slow lane again.

Dude I've never used MW :p

I wisely waited before jumping and was scared off by the howls of anguish that erupted shortly after launch

Hi

The funny thing is that I sent email to my Telkom addy and to my Gmail addy and the Gmail addy got the message within seconds but my Telkom addy is still not showing any sign of receipt. It is now 4 minutes later...

5 minutes later....

6 minutes later....

7 minutes later.... [other mail from other senders coming in but no sign of my own message. Double checked the addy to make sure there are no mistakes on my side.]

8 minutes later ...

:(

Ciao
Ant

Spend R20 a month on a hosting account and get an email that actually works.

I seem to remember a problem with Telkom and mail last year - most my clients with Telkom mail accounts were effectively up and down like a yoyo for the better part of a month.

I had this many times last year

send an email to yourself & it takes 30 min to get back via pop3, but I can see it instantly in the telkomsa webmail.

closer inspection of the mail headers shows the times it was sent & received & clearly shows a time difference on the server of approx 30 minutes. ie the mail servers time is out so it buffers until it thinks its time to send.

The support people know about it, it normally comes right when enough people complain.
