Hi guys what is the best method to backup your mailboxes other than time machine.I got all my data files backed up on an external drive but I also would like a separate back up of my mailboxes.Should I get certain apps from the AppStore for this?

I'm thinking of doing a format and fresh install to Lion.Then copy my mail and data back

I just use IMAP for mail. That way my mail exists on the server (which is backed up separately), and reloading my machine has no effect.

I used to keep my mailboxes on a secured disk image through symlinks. When mail launches it prompts me for the image password. Makes it very easy to back it up too.

Switched to imap though because of all the devices I use to access my accounts.

I got separate mailbox like the .pst's in outlook does mail work the same as outlook when you just copy the pst file n link it into outlook and then it show all the mail in the box .i don't want to use the imap route I move all my mail out of my gmail and live accounts to the own mailboxes which has folders for various catergories.

what way can I achieve these backups?
