So last night I upgraded our front end and DB Exchange servers. All went fine, no issues that I was aware of.
Servers handles 5 different domain emails ie domain1.co.za, domain2.co.za etc.

People that has emails in domain2.co.za has a bit of an issue, most mails have disappeared by the looks of it, some can be found in the deleted items box, and some can't be found at all.

It's sharing DB's with other users with other email domains, so not a DB issue.

We do have mimecast, seems the journaling service also stopped working, still not working by the looks of things, so wonder if some mails are now only in that journaling mailbox, but probably not that either

So, anyone else upgraded to SP3 and had mails disappear?

did you take the time to check your event viewer ..after the patch installation ... for any tale -tale sign / errors ???

Well, I'm not bothered anymore :)
Just told them to grab the missing mail out of Mimecast, so think they all did that as I haven't heard anything back.

Could not have been the upgrade as I checked the time on when the mails disappeared was between 10 and 11 the morning, and I did the upgrade the previous evening at 22:00.

Fixed the Mimecast sync by logging into the Journal mailbox and deleted some mails from 2012 that was in there.

Sometimes with users if you tell them you are doing changes/upgrades they start looking for issues to report back to you on when its got nothing to do with your upgrade.I've learned to not tell them too much , keeps the questions to a min.

That so true

Seems it might have had something to do with the Mimecast journaling as desktop support said that everything is fine now, mails were all back in their inbox after the journaling started to work again. Still very strange, as I would have expected everyone to have the issue, not just some people with mails ending with a certain domain name
