Haven's seen one of these in a while re Maintenance/Service Plans out there currently.
First time I am looking into it, so not sure what if that qualifies and what is covered.

So in terms of Maintenance/Service Plans what is decent out there for a second hand vehicle?
93 000 on the clock, 2006 model, Hyundai.

If there is a recent thread please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

Don't waste your money. If you read the fine print you will find that very little is actually covered. Rather save a bit of money every month and just have an emergency fund for any repairs you might need to do. Better yet, make sure you keep your car well maintained in the first place and your chances of ever needing an expensive repair will be pretty low.

I think you SHOULD read the fine print.

Depends on who is selling it some actually cover quite a bit , especially if underwritten by manufacturer.

Most warranties are there for things that will never break, the things that will break are not covered. But go on and read through the terms and conditions and see for yourself.

I think you'll find it quite hard to find a manufacturer underwritten warranty/service plan/maintenance plan on a ten year old car...

My Audi has a 5 year / 120 000km Highway plan (extended warranty, maintenance and service plan). I have had my car for 2.5 years now, and the only thing I pay for is tyres. My battery failed a few months back, and Audi Assist came out twice to get the car started and replaced it free of charge. I don't even pay for windscreen wipers. You get what you pay for. I like having that peace of mind.

It sucks that it mostly covers "Oil, oil filters, air filters, spark plugs, fuel filters, brake fluid, consumables or sundry charges, long-life coolant and car wash" I can do that all for probably around R300.

What I want is cover for those major break downs that can occur; Clutch, fan belt, using R for Race instead of Reverse... :D lol

Pretty much the bane of my life.

Who are you using? And can you only get the extended warranty if you had the exsisting warranty plan in place?

Hollard motor xtender.

Thanks, the fine print "Your car is less than 10 years old" knocks me out of the running on this one.
Appreciate the response though.

For a ten year old car unfortunately it won't benefit you. For a newer car some are actually pretty decent, I had one on my Polo and they replaced my steering rack twice and would've replaced the air conditioner compressor if I had actually remembered to put the claim in after two weeks :-(

They will cover cars over 10 years old afaik, just less cover.
