@rain_mobile, are you having problems overall or just in Durban today? Ping and jitter has been bad all day, with awful download speeds. My router cannot even ping 8.8.8.8. I've rebooted and reconnected, etc.

Tracert shows everything upstream from my router is dead, but I am connected.JPEG_20210516_151402_8425807751249870012.jpgJPEG_20210516_151649_8812825225432385090.jpg

EDIT: tried reconnecting again and now I can ping and traceroute, but speed is still k@k. 500kbps down. Internet been spotty all day.

That -105 is not helping you at all move the router around as you on the edge of the cell tower.

Its the cell I use and works fine. I get 10-20mbps usually. Also I have an outdoor antenna aimed directly at the cell. The cell is just 5.5km away cos everything close to me is saturated to death. I have direct line of sight.

Thanks but signal is not my issue - there's clearly something wrong on the network.

Just a pity @rain_mobile does not reply and Rain in general gives zero updates on the status of their network.

You connected to a tower that far … where I’m connected to a tower like 1.5km away and getting weak single strength

Hi @jbroo

I will check with the Networks department on the issue.

@jbroo all sorted now ..?
Not really. Support tech got hold of me and provided a new tower for me to test (with supposedly less traffic on it). Unfortunately while the tower is closer, due to elevation and obstructions (literally hills in the way) my router won't connect to it. So am back camping on the far tower. Tech did confirm all the towers close to me are rammed.

The thing is nothing on my side changed. Same direction, same signal. I was getting good speeds for a month, then suddenly on Sunday, 1-2mbps, and it has remained bad since. Tech guy told me the tower is congested, which makes me think suddenly there are more subscribers on that tower, or they are routing something through it which is now eating the bandwidth.

My speedtest stats below. Sunday is clearly visible. Also note the hump in the middle where it worked well all day for a few weeks. Screenshot_20210520_132811.jpg

I have the same problem all the towers close to me are congested … there is a tower they said I should try I’ll .. see today … but they did mention that there are obstructions between but I’ll still try and see …

so that leaves me to connect to a tower that’s not in my area … far away which I’m getting decent speeds from … but signal strength isn’t that great

This is what I get most days … not sure during the week due to it being at my girlfriends place … but they seem fine just now and then they do text me in the week to say something is up but just a reboot does fix it … I think the problem will be when we gonna have heavy rainy days … but it only happened once where I didn’t have signal and the router couldn’t connect to the tower for a whole day… but after I didn’t have any other issues hopefully I’ll try getting a longer pole to so the router can be higher …
