Hi,

I have an adsl router that needs to be placed + - 30meters away from the splitter. Now i bought a roll of 2 pair rj11 cable.I noticed that the wring colours are totally different to the normal 2 pair rj11 cable that comes with your router.I wired it up using the following sequence on both ends white - orange - white - blue. When i plug a phone in it rings however the adsl doesnt sync.Any ideas ?

thanks

Im thinking attenuation or crosstalk.

A crossover RJ11? No ways.

I bet you were holding it wrong.

Basically a crossover.Iam looking at my orginal boxed up old telkom dlink adsl router. Those rj11 cables are "cross overs".In the past ive wired them up both normal and crossover but only for telephones and it works.Never tried adsl.

You may have mixed the pairs up.

AFAIK, they should be inner pair and outer pair, rather than left pair and right pair.

The problem was my adsl router i was testing with and not the cable.I wired it a few different ways and all of them worked fine.As long as i matched the colour sequence the same on both ends it worked fine.
