Is there anyone out there that use their 3G phone to make a video call??

I can't seem to get it to work. I'm using MTN and my brother uses Vodacom. I can't Video call him. He then inserted a MTN sim in his phone but I still can't video call him.

Any ideas?

Do I have to activate something?

Thanks in advance.

I believe u have to set up a mailbox for 3G video calling.I found this from one of the old post.

1. I need to have phone with video calling capabilities.
2. I need to be in a 3G enabled area.
3. I need to call someone with a phone with video calling capibilities.
4. They need to be in a 3G enabled area when I phone them.
5. If they're not, I leave a video message provided they have video mail.

The logistics of this is just way too much...

In order to simplify things for customers we offered 3G service (videocalling and higher data speeds) without a USIM (3G sim). The USIM activates the current promotion (free promotional data bundles and videocall minutes on certain packages)

Try this link it may help: http://www.mtn.co.za/default.aspx?pid=237956 or http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/genericContent.do?contentId=video.calling.howdoi.sm231

I can receive 3G Video calls from Vodacom and MTN but I can't make one.

What could the problem be?

Have you had video calls enabled on your sim? Perhaps receiving is automatically enabled... I know on Vodacom you have to call / use v4me to have it enabled.

Hi Piesang,

It might be useful to note friends and I had the same problem for a while. Turns out the feature has to be turned on by the network.

The quickest way to check / enable this is to dial :

*123# then <dial/green/blue/enter/whichever is applicable for your phone>

That'll bring up the network options menu and then just select video calling from there.

Hope it sorts you out - I bet it is fun to have the N95 tell you were you are, but now you can show people where you are too! haha.

Hi, thanks for the help.

I did dial *123*15#. Got a message to say that video calling is now active.

Like I said, I can receive video calls but can't make them. I get Connection Error.

Hi guys

For video call u need HSCSD provisioned.

To have that done just dial *123*15# and the call button.

If there is any issues just PM me your number if your with MTNSP and I'll do the provisioning on the system.

Ok, I've also dialled *123*15# and just got a message that my request is being processed?

Was at MTN Service Centre now.

Made a call from my phone to the ladies' phone at MTN. It worked perfectly. She tried to make a call from her phone to my brothers phone (Vodacom), it doesn't work.

But the strange thing is that he can video call me.

She said someone was there this morning with the same problem. Only thing is the guy couldn't call his wife's Vodacom number but he could call his daughters' Vodacom number.

Don't know:confused:

Looks like there is some network interlink problem somewhere.

Maybe you should alert the technical department to check this out.

If you don't mind.:D ;)

Hi
Please PM me your number together with a number that you can video call and one that you cannot. We need to look into this matter. Also please state the handset that you currently using.
