Hi Guys

I am trying to build myself a small generator, I know and have studied Farraday's Law. I made the coil of wires moved the magnet through and I put the wires in my mouth, and I could taste that there was current/Voltage being induced. The problem is that when I connected it to a motor nothing happend. Please help.

Need a mod to move this ...

Also, you need to obtain a certain minimum voltage etc to get a motor to even swing.

Also, welcome! :D

Thank you for the warm welcome. And I used a drill to move the magnet around and still it doesnt seem to be working

Your little generator is probably generating AC, unless you have a commutator involved... And I'm willing to bet you have a DC motor?

Apparently stepper motors are quite good for this. The type of motors found in printers.
I've also seen it done with some types of motors from washing machines.

You need a controller/driver to control the position of a stepper motor. It wont move just by applying voltage to it.
