Makro special on lcd - your views?

Hi,

Is the lcd on special at makro worth it ?
it's the fujitsu siemens 17" lcd for R999

it's looks small for a 17", it's wider than "normal" lcd's but the width is also shorter...so my question is basically is it a good buy ?
please note i know little to nothing about LCD's ...

Honestly, save your R999, add another R999 and get yourself a 22 inch. I know it is double the price, but seriously I wouldnt waste my money on a 17 inch. They are horribly small. I would even consider looking at getting a second hand 22inch before spending a grand on a 17. BTW stick to Samsung LCD's if you can. They really are the leaders in quality well priced LCD's.
 
if Its the best you can afford, go for it!
Just keep your receipt close by for warranty purposes, not that it is a bad screen, just to be safe
 
I saw it at makro and I had the same impression that it looks smaller than a 17" screen. I would rather pay R300 more and get the 19". Another note is that it only has D-Sub (analogue) and no DVI

And if you're going for a 19", get the widescreen. Trust me, you'll love it.
 
u can trade in an old screen and get a new one at incredible at discount!!
 
I bought 2 no-name brand 19" LCD's (Topview) for my office, and I'm happy with those ... but next to the Samsung, you can see slightly better colour definition ... stick to Samsung ... and don't get 17" ... way too small ... I can't stand the office 17".
 
Believe me go for the 19", the 17" is just too small. rather buy it at Pc store it'll be cheaper

17" is exactly the same height as a 22" wide.. and that's an awesome combo. ;)

Ok ... well I'm referring to 17" wide ... the screen is just too short ... but don't get me wrong, one of the PC's in the office uses the 17" ... but I bought the other two 19" Topviews at the same price as the Samsung 17" ... colour on the Samsung is slightly better, but I'm happy :)
