Malatsi kills the SABC Bill

Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi has scrapped the controversial SABC bill, which would have set a three-year deadline for developing a new funding model for the public broadcaster.

Sunday Times reports that Malatsi wrote to Parliament speaker Thoko Didiza this past week, telling the legislature that he was withdrawing the "totally flawed" bill.

Nowhere does he admit how bad, biased and divisive (oh gosh that's BBD should be BBBEEE) the programming is, and how much better the advertising would be if the content was excellent.
Alternatively if the govt wants an obedient political propaganda mouthpiece, they should continue to pay for it using our taxes.. Just fire the bxstards who don't stay within budget. How is it that a budget set at the beginning of the year cannot be adhered to.. What part of budget do they not understand?

So we'll just chug along for the next 10 years?

Good thing is the half assed "plan" they had is gone, the bad thing is there is not a well thought out alternative on the table.

Definitely not going to be contributing anything towards a broadcast license of any sort, I will simply bounce it and save the money elsewhere in taxes. Tired of the DA and ANC predatory practices.

Introducing the new white tax bill to cover the SABC shortfalls
