Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 missing!

I know the families want the bodies back but at this point the governments are just wasting resources.

FAMILIES ATTEMPT TO RAISE REWARD FOR MISSING JET

Relatives of five people on board the missing Malaysian jetliner are trying to crowd source a $5 million reward for information about what happened to the plane.

The group says it "wants to provide a substantial incentive for anyone who knows the truth to come forward."

The Boeing 777 disappeared on March 8 while carrying 239 people from Malaysia to Beijing.

Calculations made from transmissions the plane sent to a satellite show the flight ended in a patch of the southern Indian Ocean. But searchers have found nothing there, leading to speculation and conspiracy theories over the fate of the plane and its passengers.

Many family members of those on board have been highly critical of the search. Some have stated they believe it likely that the plane has landed somewhere, meaning their loved ones might be alive.

The group of relatives started its fundraising campaign on the crowd sourcing website Indiegogo.

Just under 24 hours after it launched, the campaign had raised just over $5,000.

In a posting on the site, it said the money would be first used as a reward for information. It said it also planned to engage a licensed private investigation company to follow up on that information.

"Someone somewhere knows the truth, they could be your neighbor, work colleague, brother, sister, mother or father," Peter Weeks, whose brother was on the plane, said on the Indiegogo page.

The international search for the plane, unprecedented in aviation history, is on hold for two months while the seafloor is mapped and specialized equipment to work in the deep water is brought in. The focus of the hunt is a 700 kilometer by 80 kilometer (430 mile by 50 mile) swath of ocean where searchers believe the plane crashed.

Experts say it is quite possible it will never be found.

RE the fighter jets - if the aeroplane was attacked, but suffered a catastrophic communications failure before the time, and was unable to respond to military radio, leading to the attack and it got shot down...

- one scenario which wasn't considered. Doesn't make sense yet.

MALAYSIA AIRLINES BEGINS INSURANCE PAYMENTS

Malaysia Airlines has begun giving out $50,000 in advance insurance payments to families of people aboard missing Flight 370, but many Chinese relatives have indicated they'll reject it.

The jet is thought to have crashed in the Indian Ocean on March 8 with 239 people aboard, but a search has found no trace. There were 153 Chinese passengers aboard.

Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Hamzah Zainuddin said Thursday six Malaysian and one Chinese family had so far received payment. He said full payout would come after the plane is found or officially declared lost.

However, Steve Wang, a spokesman for some of the relatives, said Friday families of 127 Chinese passengers indicated they'll reject the advance payment, partly because they think Malaysia Airlines should provide economic assistance while the search continues.

I'd really like it if these two authors gave all their profits to the relatives of the deceased.

MH370: No accident say NZ authors

Two Waikato men are set to publish a book about the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

Using a process of elimination, authors Ewan Wilson, a commercial pilot and Hamilton City Councillor, and Waikato Times journalist Geoff Taylor, lead readers toward the revelation that the tragedy was no accident.

Wilson and Taylor said the conclusion of Good Night Malaysian 370: The truth behind the loss of Flight 370 will shock the travelling public. "For the first time we present a detailed analysis of the flight, the incredible route it took, and who we believe was in charge of the aircraft as it plunged into the Indian Ocean," Wilson said.

The book begins at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8 and intertwines the lives of 239 passengers and crew who ultimately met their fate on board what they thought would be a routine flight to Beijing.

Wilson a former CEO of two airlines and with qualifications in transport safety investigations said the two investigated each piece of evidence and eliminated all the possible scenarios until the reader is left with one shocking and unbelievable conclusion.

"The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 captured the world's attention and shocked everyone - [the outcome] is gut-wrenching."

The authors travelled to Malaysia to interview authorities and family members of MH370's pilot, Zaharie Ahmad Shah.

Taylor said authorities were unwilling to admit the truth. "For the sake of the relatives of those on the flight the truth needs to be out there. We visited the departure lounge where families sat full of excitement and anticipation waiting for their boarding call. Surely they deserve better than a cover up?"

During a late night visit to that same departure lounge Taylor recalled the eeriness that swept over him.

"What happened to MH370 was no accident. It was deliberate and it was calculated and it should never have been allowed to happen."

Wilson said the loss of MH370 might just change aviation forever, citing the events of March 8 may have a bearing on which airlines passengers choose in the future.

The authors also recommend immediate changes to the management of flight crews and the introduction of tamper-proof technical systems to ensure the aircraft can be tracked at all times.

The authors say the book will be published at the end of July.

Are they suggesting the tragedy was brought on by the flight crew? Perhaps a suicide and thus mass-murder by the pilot or co-pilot?

Ineluctably the mind wanders to this as the most likely scenario...

This thread is an insteresting study in how us as humans are by nature curious and want to fill the blanks... good or bad, we want to know everything. It's a fascinating bit of our psyche. Recorded in the book of Genesis, where the fall of man started.

Wayne! Nooit, we thought you wend town with the plane bro. Hows Uncle Sam treating you?

Sure uncle sam likes him as he upped the IQ stats for florida, only problem is that makes him stand out over there which is not good :D

I never realized that the Inmarsat hotspot has still not been searched.

BBC said:
The UK satellite company Inmarsat has told the BBC that the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet has yet to go to the area its scientists think is the plane's most likely crash site.
