Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema is set to graduate with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications and African Studies from the University of South Africa.
On Tuesday the party said the firebrand leader‚ who was often ridiculed for his alleged poor performance in maths and woodwork in matric‚ will be formally awarded the degree during the university’s 2016 graduation ceremony on Wednesday evening.

Spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said in a statement that Malema “continues to make us proud and his graduation confirms the reality that education is central to the struggle for economic freedom”.

Conclusive proof that Unisa degrees are now officially worthless ... then again that's true for all BA's right? :D

although perhaps there is still hope: "The university could not be immediately reached to confirm Malema’s graduation"

Not a fan of the guy, but hopefully this indicates to his followers the importance of an education. One can only hope that they decide to go for something a bit more worthwhile.

Anyone have a list of subjects for this course? I'm sure it would be worth a few giggles... :D

Good for him!!

This is the correct response. He's no idiot. Seeing him improve himself can only be a good thing.

It would be interesting to see how many of those making fun of him hold higher qualifications.

Can't complain much seeing as its a higher NQF level.

/waits for bought degree scandal

Just wondering - would any university in this country have the balls to fail him?

It is just possible that he will be able to read out numbers properly when he gets round to fleecing the country.

Notwithstanding the external auditing process. Scripts on which the UNISA exam answers are written do not bear any names. The marker would therefore not have any idea it was his paper she/he had just marked.

No need to poke fun at his subjects. Even if he has a PhD in Mathematics or Physics or Economics or Engineering it does not mean he'd know anything useful or true about politics or economics or even ethics. Having academic qualifications doesn't automatically mean you're educated. There's a difference between being qualified and being educated, and in the modern world we can no longer assume they overlap. The loopiest and most bizarre views on important issues are held by highly-credentialed academics.

I would poke fun at anyone who did a BA, Malema or not... :p
