Cape Town - The ANC Youth League has come out firing against reports of a Twitter account for its president, Julius Malema.

"That's a fake account and Comrade Malema doesn't even use Twitter," ANCYL spokesperson Floyd Shivambu told News24.

"It's set up by people who are crazy, people who are mad, and we have no interest in that," he added.

Shivambu said that a Facebook account Malema had also been set up in Malema's name, but that the ANCYL was not going to lodge complaints.

"We don't follow up on petty issues; it's not even a story. We have bigger battles to fight and this internet doesn't even speak to our people," he said.
