Well let's face it, the games of today are phenomenal, especially in the aesthetic sense. But the old school games are hard to beat. I'm talking about the good stuff, Street Fighter, King of Fighters, to name but a few. Anyone remember those? These games have definitely stood the test of time. They're true classics!!! ;)

The reason why I posted here is to find out if anyone would be interested in some MAME online 1 on 1 fighting game action (for those who aren't familiar with it, MAME is an arcade emulator that supports a crap load of mostly forgotten arcade games), heck, even if it is just once in a while.

I've been trying in vain to play folks overseas and they aren't exactly too tolerant of a guy with a ping of 500 trying to get in on the action. I'm sure there are tons of SA folks that find themselves in a similar situation and would like to play online but can't because there are no local dedicated emulation servers in SA.

I'd be willing to host in the beginning to get the ball rolling and if there are enough folks interested, perhaps we could work out some kind of rotation so that each person gets an opportunity to host. We could also decide on a list of games that appeal to everyone and hopefully have some king o the hill tourneys or something similar, I dunno :D

Well, if anyone is interested, post, post, post! Lets re-ignite what was once great!

Well I never was very interested in games like streetfighter, but other arcade games did manage to gobble up my pocket money so I would be quite interested in finding out where to download some more roms.

Good luck in your search for gaming partners.

Hi,

I used to play SNES fighters by means of zSNES, but as usual my latency put me at a huge disadvantage in Street Fighter 2.

I don't have time to still play those games, but let me tell you it's definitely worth it if you're like me and am still in love with those games from childhood.

Good luck - sorry this wasn't some years ago ;)

Couldn't agree with you more, Wayne :D

Would you be interested in playing online?

Rainy, have you used MAME before? If not, I can fill you in on what needs to be done.

Ebudae, I just might be able to help ya out :D

Soz for not replying earlier guys, been rather busy :(

I'll come in - give me the password or whatever it is that you need to connect and play.
