Man arrested after parcel explodes in Durban

Durban – A 31-year-old man is expected to appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday for contravening the Chemicals Act after a parcel he was carrying exploded moments before he tried to post it, local police said on Thursday.

It was not clear whether anyone was injured as a result of the explosion.

KZN police spokesperson, Major Shooz Magudulela, said the man was arrested after he was found with a parcel containing chemicals.

“The parcel allegedly exploded while he was about to post it at the post office at a shopping centre in King Dinizulu Road, Berea. The motive of the incident is unknown,” said Magudulela.

Police did not respond to a query for further details.

Lets not jump to conclusions... probably just sending some good curry to a friend.

Did it explode or pop? This seems more like a pop to me
 
It exploded while he was carrying it and they arrested him immediately afterwards.

Sounds like a the title is a little melodramatic.
 
where was the delivery address?

what chemicals? hth and kompos? enos and water? coke and mentos?

was it more of a pop and a fizz or an actual explosion, reminds me of those chemical kits you get for kids, shouldnt the guy go to the hospital first?


ag man, the guy was sending some muti to a family member, enos and baking soda, some chicken bones, drain cleaner, HTH, stoney, VIM, chicken legs, brake fluid, JIK, mix that up im sure something will happen
