Mr Bull is believed to have plugged his charger into an extension cord from the hallway and rested it on his chest while using the phone, the Sun reports.

He suffered severe burns on his chest, arm and hand when the charger touched the water and died on 11 December, the newspaper said.

Darwin award candidate ...

Hmm, ye sounds like the AC isolation on the charger probably didn't work because there was too much moisture in the air, that and/or was using a cheap knock-off charger.

No earth leakage?
Wouldn't surprise me to hear that the extension cord was plugged into the hallway light fitting, Y type double adaptors for bayonet fixtures were quite common when I was young and used for hair dryers and gawd knows what.

... makes me shudder now when I look back on growing up in the post-war UK.

lelz. so basically he plugged the charger into an extension cord and then rested the cord and charger on his chest...

That's a nice AC charge straight to his heart right there.

This ^^

Nothing to do with the phone or phone charger, getting into a bath of water with an extension cord on your chest is prime Darwin Award territory

Well that is not the smartest thing one can do, which doesn't surprise me, it still seems there are quite a few people who do not fully fathom the dangers of electricity think a battery and a wall socket is the same thing.
