Four people have been caught cheating - with one resorting to eating his cheat sheet - in the past six months at the Milnerton Driving Licence Testing Centre, prompting the City of Cape Town to investigate and identify any potential weaknesses in its internal systems.

On Monday, a 39-year-old man was caught red-handed by the invigilator copying from an answer sheet, said mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith.

He was handed over to the police on a charge of fraud.

"This is the fourth such arrest at Milnerton this year. The other incidents happened in June, May and February," Smith said.

In June, a 34-year-old man escaped prosecution when he ate his cheat sheet, destroying the evidence.

:crylaugh:

Who needs to cheat on their license test, it's multi choice and around 80% is just common sense

My mother is an invigilator at a university, this happens so often. And, the best part is, if they can't prove the student was cheating, nothing happens to the little ****s. So they place themselves in the middle of the facility, where they have ample warning, and if an invigilator comes close, they just eat the evidence.

it was probably more of a mission to orchestrate this cheat than just read through the book once

A charge of fraud? Damn! I never knew they took learner's license cheating that seriously.

The guy is an idiot though, especially given that the test's answers are so easily obtainable. This reminds me, at varsity I knew a guy who partied like its 1969 the night before a big test. He got up early and drew up some crib notes. He failed because he couldn't finish as it was too time consuming discretely looking at the notes and writing down the answers :p

It's probably faster and easier just to study for this than to create a cheat sheet.

cant read? or cant read local languages?

then again ive met people whove failed their learners a few times..

This. Wow. I'd expect cheaters to just be automatically failed or something.

The problem is these cheaters end up causing chaos on the roads because they do not know the rules or worse getting their license out of a lucky packet on the street corner.

It's a bout road safety for everyone, I say charge the idiot.

This, it's one thing to try and cheat the practical but the theory... The mere fact that they needed to cheat on such a basic test should rule them out from every being allowed behind the wheel.

Yes, but I'm sure a lot of people don't know that you could get charged with fraud for cheating on your license test. This could now set a precedent in terms of case law should the case go to trial. You cheated during your firearm competency test? Don't drop the soap

You only need to study the rules. The rest of it is common sense.
